This is the website of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP). Our Chapter includes some of the finest names in the industry, many of whom are spotlighted within this website.

September Salon - Apple's iPad, with Dave Marra

You've seen it at the Apple Store, on TV or your friend has one and won't let you play with it. Have you always thought this was just a "big iPhone? Or an overpriced e-reader? Then come see what this game-changer can really do and how it can be an indispensable part of your business and your life! ASMP-NJ will be hosting Dave Marra, a Senior Systems Engineer, at Unique Photo on Sept. 8th. He will demonstrate the power of the iPad and what makes this such a coveted and innovative device. Dave will also be speaking about Quicktime and how it can be another powerful tool for the hot business of video and multimedia. Although Dave is from Apple, the topics he will cover will be 90% cross-platform to benefit the PC/Windows users as well.

Don't miss this special appearance of Dave Marra! This presentation is for everyone, not just Apple users.

About Dave Marra: As a Senior Systems Engineer for Apple, Dave Marra has conducted thousands of technology presentations, keynote addresses and workshops for schools, Mac and PC user groups, businesses and other professional organizations across the United States and Canada. Certified as both an Apple Certified Technical Coordinator and an Apple Certified Systems Administrator, his specialty areas include digital multimedia, Internet technologies, accessibility and Mac/PC integration. Who We Are:

The American Society of Media Photographers is a trade organization which promotes photographers' rights, educates photographers in better business practices, and produces business publications for photographers. It was founded in 1944 by a handful of the world's leading photojournalists and is recognized internationally for its leadership role. ASMP has over 6,000 members, including many of the world's greatest photographers, in 39 chapters nationwide.

ASMP has three purposes:

  1. To protect and promote the interests of photographers whose work is for publication.
  2. To promote high professional standards and ethics.
  3. To cultivate friendship and mutual understanding between photographers.


Mission Statement of the New Jersey Chapter of ASMP:

Our Chapter exists to promote professionalism in photography within the State of New Jersey. To that end, the Chapter encourages active membership and public awareness via educational programs. ASMP-NJ is committed to open communication between chapter members, the photographic industry and other creative professionals. The Chapter embraces the professional and ethical standards of the American Society of Media Photographers.
